A typical day at work for me would be meeting and greeting customers and helping them find their dream holiday. I have learnt a lot about the travel industry and all the different operators out there. The workplace culture for me was very stressful and very sales targeted.

The hardest part of my job was reaching my sales target for the company. But the most enjoyable part was meeting new customers everyday and building the rapport with them.

Job Opportunities

Dealt with complaints, companies worldwide. Helped improve my customer service skills. Best oart of the job was securing the perfect holiday for all customers. Fast paced but no appreciation. The wage is minimum, they took ages to start my NVQ, just kept telling me to wait another month. I was meant to start in September and didn't start till February You don't get appreciation, a lot of favouritism in the company, laid back atmosphere and not very professional It's hard to advance and virtually impossible to move departments You do get to eat and drink at your desk, get good discounts and mostly colleagues are friendly.

I made some friends for life durimg my time here and learned alot aswell as completeig an apprentashio. Amazing Staff and Excellent Career opportunities. I love my job at Hays Travel opportunities to progress are fantastic! A very good place of work, staff are very friendly and focus on meeting targets. This was just work experience with school for 5 days.

So basic duties were involved filling, faxing, photo copying etc.

However I got to meet a lot of the public and great customers. Fun but hard working environment. Working with a great team, fab customer interaction in a busy, highly profitable store.

Lunchbreaks are few and far between which makes for a tiring day, but love the customer contact and helping match products to needs. Job role intended of finding appropriate holiday deals in budgets given to produce onto the store window to attract people who may show an interest. Also given tasks to organise store brochures in subject to term time and appropriate seasons. Given tasks of cleaning duties and making the customers feel welcomed to the store. I worked at hays travel for a number of months as an apprentice unfortunately my actual apprenticeship never started as the tutor could not make it to the office.

As a result I got to experience a few different departments from helping travel agents who had trouble booking hotels to the department which inputs data to the website and finally the department which deals with contracts between hoteliers and between transfer companies.

Two year Graduate Scheme consisting of working within five key areas of the business: Training, HR, Selling Systems Support, Finance and Cruise. My duties and responsibilities have varied from managing a team, to completing and leading major projects.

I have acquired technical expertise whilst contributing to the operational delivery of the departments I have worked within. Great staff and job.

A typical day would be meeting deadlines and communicating with other departments and clients. The staff are all excellent and close-net working together. Every day was slightly different and enjoyable. I didn't like working at Hays Travel as the staff did not help you when you where struggling.

At Hays Travel some days could be busy and some days could be quieter. I learnt how to use the computer systems, how you correctly answer phones in a appropriate mannor, stacking brouchers onto the racks, window displays, meeting and greeting customers and admin work.

The people who work within Hays Travel are friendly and helpful. The hardest part is having to learn the computer systems and how they all work. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to speak to different people on different days.

Fab company to work for. I love my job at hays travel but the only reason i am looking for a Career change. On a day at work i start my day by tidying the office and doing jobs that need done then i deal with all of the enquires that come into the office by phone and also the customers that come into the shop, giving them all excellence customer service as this is one of my main roles.

I also sort paper work by filing things away, sending things to people and also sorting the post. Hays has a casual working environment, however is very unprofessional and does not offer it's employee's any reason to stay. Hays Travel has given me the means to learn a lot of my IT skills. However has also opened my eyes to how unprofessional the company as a whole is. The management is all based on how long a person has worked for the company and favouritism.

Based on the statistics of what I have completed work wise, I should be offered a higher salary than minimum wage This is lower than normal with me being under the age of 21 furthermore it seems as though it is a dead end for me.

I do not regret working here as it is a good place to start out working from school. I have gained vast knowledge of the IT systems here and PC work in general. Their let down is the salary and lack of appreciation at the end of the day. Thanks a lot, Nathan.
